Week 3 - Drifting

When researching on drifting I found out that not many videos on YouTube showing off Drifting tutorials in Unreal Engine. I found this very difficult as I didn't know how I was going to be able to get the car to drift. I was able to find a video but whenever I did this method the car was either very slow at turning or the car was able to fly across the map. I couldn't find the perfect balance for the drifting.

When using the sports car that is built into Unreal Engine I found that is was very difficult to control and wasn't very fun. I then discovered that there was an off road buggy that can be used so I decided to test it and I found that the buggy was far easier to control. So I then changed the pawn in the game mode to allow the player to play as the buggy.

For the buggy I discovered that in the front wheels you can change the slip threshold. I then decided to increase the value to 200 and found that when it was increased the car would drift and the car would change the back angle when doing so. This brought the illusion that the car was drifting. This was incredibly useful and I then tinkered with it to find the best values.
